The busiest branch of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is in Arlington. This branch recently implemented a new software system for managing its queues, but anecdotal evidence indicated that long
delays and inefficiencies were still common at peak times. This project analyzed the performance of the system through extensive observation of the operations of this DMV branch, and through simulation
models that tested alternative strategies for managing the queues.
