Officer Assignment in the U.S. Army

Administration of the U.S. Army Personnel System is the largest manpower problem in the nation. Manpower in this system must be recruited, trained, assigned to positions, and separated in a manner which meets personnel requirements of the Army. This thesis uses large network optimization models in an attempt to provide useful, multi-year projections that can be used for planning purposes, to ensure that the Army's demands for personnel are met, not just in a single year, but over a 15-year period.
